Mac stands tall in Brawl.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズX Dairantō Sumasshu Burazāzu Ekkusu, lit. "Great Melee Smash Brothers X?) is a 2008 crossover fighting video game for the Wii. It is the third in the Super Smash Bros. series, which has gathered immense popularity for its unique style of play and large selection of characters from across the many franchises of Nintendo. Brawl also includes two characters from third-party series: Solid Snake, of Konami's Metal Gear series, and Sonic, mascot of SEGA and star of their flagship series, Sonic The Hedgehog.

Little Mac[]

Little Mac appears in Brawl as an Assist Trophy, and the sole representative of the Punch-Out!! series both in the game and the entire series thus far. Assist Trophies are blue capsule-shaped items that can spawn in most matches. When a player grabs the Assist Trophy, he or she holds it up and the character inside bursts out to help them in the fight (though a few exceptions' effects on the players are neutral). Mac will dart around the stage, punching at enemies. He mostly uses hooks, but will also use jabs and uppercuts similar to his signature Star Punch. When he appears, the bell sound effect used to signal the beginning of a boxing match is heard. Like several of Nintendo's silent protagonists such as Mario and Link, he does not speak, but shouts and grunts in a low voice when attacking.

Unfortunately, Little Mac is reckless and his artificial intelligence is not up to par with other Assist Trophies, and he often jumps off the stage to his doom if his targets do not stand still. Unlike the others such as Gray Fox, his midair jumps are limited to one and he cannot reappear in other locations if he leaves the ring. However, his punches are very strong and can send foes flying at low amounts of damage.

His design comes from the 1985 version of Punch-Out!! in his classic green Minor Circuit attire. The backs of his boxing gloves sport a K·O logo. His face is fixed in an intimidating grimace that does not change as playable characters' faces do.

Trophy Description[]

A lightweight scrapper from the Bronx. After meeting with a former boxing great named Doc Louis who fell from glory, Mac takes Doc on as his coach, and together the pair try for the championship belt in the WVBA. Little Mac works his way up the ranks of the WVBA, taking out foes several times his size. By landing multiple blows, Little Mac gains a "*" uppercut.
